October 15

Hello, Grade 3 Families!

We hope you are enjoying a beautiful long thanksgiving weekend with your families!  Last week we were very busy collecting information and learning about bar graphs.  We will continue with this work this week and answer word problems about the data we have collected.  Please see the bonus question below that children can do if they are looking for a challenge this weekend.  We enjoyed our walk on Monday and were able to collect rocks for a project we are doing about land formations (which we started learning about last week).  Both classes have started to read a novel titled the "Wish Tree" By Christina Applegate.  The children are so engaged with this novel and we will be exploring the concept of empathy and connecting all curricular areas as we take this journey in literacy.  Please watch the trailer below to see what it's all about!

Math bouns question:  Make a bar graph by collecting your own data and charting it.  You will need a question, and categories.

An example could be:  How many different coloured shirts do I have in my closet?  Red, yellow, green, blue.

Feel free to use this question or make your own.
