Good Afternoon, Grade 3 Families!

We hope you're having a great weekend with family and friends. Please remember to look over our Feedback Friday from this week, sign and return it to your teacher! Book orders and popcorn came home as well, on Friday.

With Halloween coming up we wanted to send out a reminder that while costumes are permitted to be worn all day, those with masks, weapons or exceptionally scary ones are not. Students are allowed to bring in snacks/treats for their class on the 31st if they would like. Please be mindful of peanut allergies in grade 3!

This week we began talking about all 5 countries we will be studying this year, to help students compare features like housing, celebrations, clothing, food etc. Your children have been very interested in comparing their locations on maps!

In Science we continue to learn a variety of Landforms in our Rocks and Minerals unit!

Mr. Wideman lead Phys. Ed. on Friday and we learned some great new games, including one where we got to kick soccer balls at bowling pins!

Ask us about the Wish Tree! Mrs. Smith and Ms. Norrie were SO impressed with the reflections we read about this novel, on Feedback Friday.

Good Morning, Grade Three Families, Last week we established some new routines including music on Tuesday/Thursday and choir on Friday.  We will we also visited Ms. Dorothy in the learning commons for a story and will continue this practice throughout the year.  Children will be able to sign out books through the week and can keep them for up to two weeks.  As children are building up their stamina to read at school and at home during quiet or partner reading, we encourage them to keep one book at school and take one home. Last week started to explore rocks and minerals in science, the parts and whole of numbers in math and a map of my heart in social.  Literacy was discovered through centers as well as in other curriculum areas. This week we will learn about the layers of the earth in science, a map of my community in social and increasing and decreasing numbers in mathematics. Good Morning, Grade 3 Families! We hope you have enjoyed the first week back to school as much as we have. As we are now settling in to our new classes we will begin Literacy centers every morning, and starting into Rocks and Minerals this week! Some of our favorite things w e enjoyed this week were learning new Math card games, mindful sketching in the courtyard and a game called "Who is It?". Your children took home a new folder on Friday, containing a "Feedback Friday" sheet with basic math facts and some writing where we were able to get to know a bit more about them! They were given 30 minutes to get as much done as they could and taken home to share with their family. These will be done every Friday to show you what we are working on, what you can assist your child with, as well as how your child is improving throughout the year.
