Good Afternoon Grade 3 Families!


There is no school next Friday and it will be a busy week we will not be doing a spelling test! They have been working very hard and creating amazing culture presentations. Thank you for sharing family photos, treats and artifacts with us!

We are starting to add money into word problems, which we will continue until Christmas! It is both fun and challenging for the students so far.

This week ahead students are invited to participate in spirit week at Ron Southern School by wearing the following special items each day, if they choose to:

Monday: Sweater Day

Tuesday: Hat Day

Wednesday: Matching Day

Thursday: PJ Day

Reminder Thursday is our last day of school before winter break. Students will be dismissed at 2:30PM.

Good Morning, Grade Three Families, Last week we established some new routines including music on Tuesday/Thursday and choir on Friday.  We will we also visited Ms. Dorothy in the learning commons for a story and will continue this practice throughout the year.  Children will be able to sign out books through the week and can keep them for up to two weeks.  As children are building up their stamina to read at school and at home during quiet or partner reading, we encourage them to keep one book at school and take one home. Last week started to explore rocks and minerals in science, the parts and whole of numbers in math and a map of my heart in social.  Literacy was discovered through centers as well as in other curriculum areas. This week we will learn about the layers of the earth in science, a map of my community in social and increasing and decreasing numbers in mathematics. Good Morning, Grade 3 Families! We hope you have enjoyed the first week back to school as much as we have. As we are now settling in to our new classes we will begin Literacy centers every morning, and starting into Rocks and Minerals this week! Some of our favorite things w e enjoyed this week were learning new Math card games, mindful sketching in the courtyard and a game called "Who is It?". Your children took home a new folder on Friday, containing a "Feedback Friday" sheet with basic math facts and some writing where we were able to get to know a bit more about them! They were given 30 minutes to get as much done as they could and taken home to share with their family. These will be done every Friday to show you what we are working on, what you can assist your child with, as well as how your child is improving throughout the year.
