Good Morning, Grade Three Families,

Last week we established some new routines including music on Tuesday/Thursday and choir on Friday.  We will we also visited Ms. Dorothy in the learning commons for a story and will continue this practice throughout the year.  Children will be able to sign out books through the week and can keep them for up to two weeks.  As children are building up their stamina to read at school and at home during quiet or partner reading, we encourage them to keep one book at school and take one home.

Last week started to explore rocks and minerals in science, the parts and whole of numbers in math and a map of my heart in social.  Literacy was discovered through centers as well as in other curriculum areas.

This week we will learn about the layers of the earth in science, a map of my community in social and increasing and decreasing numbers in mathematics.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thursday 3:30pm-7:30pm
Friday 8:00-12:30
If you haven't signed up already, please do so before Thursday, we are looking forward to meeting with all of you!  The conferences are an opportunity to touch base with your child's teacher so we can learn more about your child and their learning.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our annual Book Fair is coming! It will be held on September 19-20, 2019 at the Learning Commons during the parent-teacher conference.
There are lots of new books to choose from, contests to win and a chance to support the reading resources of your child's classroom.
In a 2015 survey conducted by Scholastic, children who read a book of their own choice are 3 times more likely to be a frequent reader.
See you all at the book fair!

Opening Packages
Please remember to send opening packages back to school as soon as possible.
