Good Afternoon, Grade 3 Families!

We hope you have a great weekend together and enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. This week for spelling practice the words are:

- little
- look
- make
- play
- run
- two
- three
- where
- you
- yellow

Please review them at home, and we will do the same here during Literacy Centers!

We continue to compare 5 countries of study, and are looking at different schools. It is very interesting to hear our classes compare Ron Southern to schools in India, Tunisia, Peru and Ukraine! We feel lucky for all the technology we have in our warm, safe, school.

In Science we are moving into Life Cycles of various animals and will be doing a big project with this!

Please look in your child's Feedback Friday folders, go over this weeks page, sign and return it to school. Students should be keeping each week's page in their folder, to see the growth and what we need to work on! We will continue to work on regrouping, as this is a challenging topic for many.

Good Morning, Grade Three Families, Last week we established some new routines including music on Tuesday/Thursday and choir on Friday.  We will we also visited Ms. Dorothy in the learning commons for a story and will continue this practice throughout the year.  Children will be able to sign out books through the week and can keep them for up to two weeks.  As children are building up their stamina to read at school and at home during quiet or partner reading, we encourage them to keep one book at school and take one home. Last week started to explore rocks and minerals in science, the parts and whole of numbers in math and a map of my heart in social.  Literacy was discovered through centers as well as in other curriculum areas. This week we will learn about the layers of the earth in science, a map of my community in social and increasing and decreasing numbers in mathematics. Good Morning, Grade 3 Families! We hope you have enjoyed the first week back to school as much as we have. As we are now settling in to our new classes we will begin Literacy centers every morning, and starting into Rocks and Minerals this week! Some of our favorite things w e enjoyed this week were learning new Math card games, mindful sketching in the courtyard and a game called "Who is It?". Your children took home a new folder on Friday, containing a "Feedback Friday" sheet with basic math facts and some writing where we were able to get to know a bit more about them! They were given 30 minutes to get as much done as they could and taken home to share with their family. These will be done every Friday to show you what we are working on, what you can assist your child with, as well as how your child is improving throughout the year.
