Good Evening Grade 3 Families!

We hope you had a cozy weekend inside staying warm and spending time with your families!  With the snow in full swing, please remember to send appropriate outdoor wear for your child and an extra pair of socks.

Last week we enjoyed taking part in the Terry Fox Run!  Thank you to all the families that came by to participate in the run and donate toonies for Terry.

Orange Shirt Day

On Monday we will recognize the orange shirt day along with CBE and everyone across the country.  This day symbolizes that every child matters and stems from the experience and journey of residential school survivors.  Please send your child to school in an orange t-shirt or somthing orange (socks, hat, scarf), which is the symbol of this day.

SLA's

This week we will be learning how to take student learning assessments from Alberta Learning. These assessments are completed on the computer and cover the grade three mathematics and literacy.  Later on this week we will be taking the SLA's to see how we do.  We will also do these in June to see how much we've progressed.

Happy Birthday

With September birthdays underway, we are asking grade three families not to bring in snacks to the classroom this year due to allergies.  We are however excited to recognize your child's special day with a pencil and hot coco or popcorn!  If your child has an allergy to popcorn or hot chocolate and cannot participate in this program please let us know by email.

Reminders

Please remember to bring back grade three folders daily and sign "Feedback Friday", from last week

Please continue to read 10 minutes a night with your child, as we are already noticing growth during literacy time and hope to continue this trend!

If you did not order a yearbook and would like one, we have some extras available in the office for $20. They look great!

Have a lovely week,

Mrs. Smith and Ms. Norrie
